What is Biomass?
Biomass is material that is made up of several natural aspects including living or recently living products such as animals and plants, hydrogen, oxygen and heavy metals such as magnesium.
Biomass is an alternative to using fossil fuels which is currently being developed in order to make our energy needs sustainable. Fossil fuels are not a long term solution and we must therefore find alternatives that are not harmful to the environment.
Benefits of Biomass Heating
1. If you use a wood fuel boiler system you may be eligible for the renewable heat incentive
2. Wood fuel will often be cheaper than many heating alternatives
3. Although this method of heating releases carbon dioxide it emits no more than what a growing plant releases into the atmosphere
